Essential Job Functions:

Provide safety and environmental guidance for a custom aluminum tractor-trailer manufacturer. Responsible for all aspects of safety, environmental, and injury management for 600+ employees.

Industrial Safety
Plan and direct safety and health activities in industrial setting to evaluate and control environmental hazards: Test noise levels, measure air quality, collect samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis. Determine occupational exposures to workers and then recommended methods for control. Investigate adequacy of ventilation, lighting, and other conditions that affected employee health, comfort, or efficiency.

Inspect machinery, equipment, processes, and working conditions in industrial workplaces to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations. Evaluated new safety equipment to determine effectiveness in reducing injuries. Inspect facilities for fire prevention and code compliance. Investigate both accidents and near-miss incidents to determine root causes, then developed policies and procedures to prevent recurrences, reduce accident incidents.

Technical Training
Instruction Developed and conducted programs to train employees of industrial facilities in safety practices and federally mandated programs such as Lockout/Tag Out, Fall Protection, Machine Guarding, etc. Write training programs that include scripted dialog, handouts, tests, practical evaluation sheets, and new hire orientation presentation.

Environmental Management
Provide technical assistance in the event of a hazardous chemical spill and identify pollutant, determined hazardous impact, and recommended corrective restoration action. Identify waste streams through process analysis to determine if substitution of less hazardous materials could be accomplished.

Safety Inspection
Inspect machinery, equipment, processes, and working conditions in industrial workplaces to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations. Evaluate new safety equipment to determine effectiveness in reducing injuries.
